Matthias Buehlmaier is assistant professor of finance (tenure track) at the University of Hong Kong. He holds a Ph.D. in finance from Vienna Graduate School of Finance (VGSF). His research interests include corporate finance, applied econometrics, and game theory.

Matthias Buehlmaier holds a M.S. in mathematics from Texas A&M University–College Station, USA and has studied applied mathematics at Ulm University, Germany. He is a member of Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung, the German Actuarial Association, and has passed several actuarial exams. He is an alumnus of the Portfolio Management Program at the Institute of Strategic Capital Market Research, Austria.
